Myefski Cook Architects, Inc. was established in 1995 by John W. Myefski and Charles S. Cook, the two Principals in charge of all operations for the firm and its team of talented professionals. The firm has grown since its inception by providing a primary focus on design, service, and attention to detail. Services provided include Master Planning, Design Development and Construction phases for projects ranging from Residential Renovations/Restorations to complex mixed-use Commercial projects. Specific project types include restaurants, hotel facilities, retail, athletic clubs, bank facilities, townhouses, condominiums, and new single-family residential and residential additions.

Prior to combining their efforts and talents John and Chuck had each pursued career paths that had relied on and broadened their design talents as evident in the following curriculum vitae.

John W. Myefski gained his experience as an Architect at highly respected firms like Murphy/Jahn, Winsor/Faricy and Albert Kahn. While at Murphy/Jahn Architects in Chicago, he was Project Architect for such projects as Kempinski Hotel and Munich Airport Center in Germany and the Principal Financial Group Headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. As a Project Designer at Winsor/Faricy Architects in St. Paul, he directed design phases for Collier County Courthouse in Naples, Florida and Cray Computers Research Office in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As an Architectural Designer at Albert Kahn Associates Architects in Detroit, Michigan he worked on major corporate and industrial projects.

After earning his Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, he attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in Copenhagen, Denmark in conjunction with a Fulbright Research Grant. He has been a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan, College of Architecture, and an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a State Licensed Architect in Illinois, Minnesota, and California

Charles S. Cook was Project Manager for both residential and commercial projects, handling the entire scope of services from schematic design through completion of construction while a Project Architect at Pappageorge Haymes, Ltd., in Chicago, Illinois from 1987 through 1995. While at Perkins & Will, Chicago, Illinois, he was a Design Team Member for a large international housing project, and participated in the design development and interior space planning for several schools and corporate offices. His experience also includes design development and execution of construction documents for various residential and commercial projects at Jude Fusco Associates in Southfield, Michigan and at Peters Associates in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

He holds both a Masters of Architecture and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is a State Licensed Architect in Illinois and Michigan.

Beyond its Principals, Myefski Cook Architects, Inc. is comprised of a professional staff of Associates, Project Managers, Assistant Project Mangers, Project Coordinators, and Architectural Interns. Under the direction of the firm's Principals, projects are assigned to a team made up of these staff members whose varied talents and experience contribute to the successful design solutions created for each project.


COMPUTER CAPABILITIES

Myefski Cook Architects, Inc. currently supports a network of twenty one computers running on the Windows platform. Architectural drawings are brought through all stages of development from preliminary design to completed construction documents using AutoCAD 2009 and Autodesk Revit Architecture 2009. Computer files may be shared with Contractors to facilitate project coordination from base drawings to project completion. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and QuarkXPress are also implemented for marketing and presentation purposes.
