This entire home was renovated from the foundation up to the new roof form. A new master bedroom suite was added above the existing two-car garage and family room. The homes new appearance draws on the American Shingle style, and is intended to harmonize with the scale of the surrounding homes. The expansive front porch sets the rhythm of the front elevation, visually balancing the garage doors. Custom cherry and maple wood cabinetry is utilized in many areas of the home, including the kitchen, living room, master bedroom and master bath, creating a feeling of warmth and increased functionality. This project was honored with a Third Place Award in 2004 from the Chicago Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association, a Design and Planning Award in 2000 from BUILDER Magazine, a Honorable Mention Award in 2000 from Crystal Cabinet Works Design Contest, and a Second Place Award in 2000 from the Chicago Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association. This project was featured on a 2000 episode of 'New Spaces' on Home & Garden Television, in a 2000 issue of Builder Magazine, and in the Fall 2000 issue of Chicago Home & Garden Magazine. |
